Understand Traffic Detail Reports

Video Overview

As the account summary report details the aggregate charges for individual devices, the detailed traffic reports provide the activity records for each device over the course of the billing cycle. These files are presented by service type (e.g. GSM SMS vs LTE data vs CDMA voice). The data in these files can be used to corroborate the information in the account summary report with respect to these individual services.

This article is organized into the following sections:

CDMA SMS Report

This report provides a detailed listing of CDMA SMS during the billing period for each Device.

CDMA SMS Report Definitions

Definition

Account ID

Customer account number. It is always a format as follows: XXXXX.

PMIN

Primary Mobile Identification Number or PMIN. This is also referred to as the Mobile Station IDentifer (“MSID”).

ESN

Electronic Serial Number or, in the case of a radio that uses a Mobile Equipment IDentifier (“MEID”), the Pseudo ESN (“pESN”). A pESN always has 128 (0x80) as the first three digits.

PAGED MIN

The paged MIN for the forward packets. This is blank if no paged MIN was used.

STATUS

The status of the Primary MIN when the RECC or FOCC packet was sent. Status options include PROV, BILL, SUSP, and CANC.

SURCHARGE

Identifies whether the packet incurred a surcharge. A ‘1’ signifies that the packet incurred a surcharge; a ‘0’ signifies that it did not incur a surcharge or that this field does not apply to the Customer pricing plan.

HOSTID

The number of the Aeris host system providing the data.

SEQIDI

In conjunction with SEQID2—a value that uniquely identifies the message.

PKT TYPE

The type of packet. It can be “RECC”, “FOCC”, “CONF”, “QURY”, “MFOCC”, “TFOCC”, or “BCNRQ” for the different type of pages, “SMSMO” or “SMSMT” for SMS messages. “MFOCC” is a multiple forward page. A multiple forward page generates a line of data for each MIN it pages. For example, if the multiple forward page contains four pages, then there are four lines of data in the detailed report, one for each page. “TFOCC” is a timed forward page. “BCNRQ” is a beacon request.

GMT DATE

The date of receipt of the message in UTC, formatted as “YYYY-MM-DD”.

GMT TIME

The time of the receipt of the message in UTC, formatted as “HH:MM:SS”.

Note: The time is in UTC even though there isn’t a trailing “Z” character signifying this format.)

DATA

The content is configuration page data.

DPC

Destination Point Code. A node number that identifies the address of the destination of SMSDirect traffic on the SS7 network.

OPC

Origination Point Code. A node number that identifies the origin of SMSDirect traffic on the SS7 network.

MSC MARKET

Mobile Switching Center Market ID. This identifies the market that the SMSDirect traffic originated from.

MSC SWITCH NO

Mobile Switching Center Number. This identifies the cellular switch that the SMSDirect traffic originated from.

GSM SMS Report

This report provides a detailed listing of GSM SMS traffic during the billing period for each Device.

GSM SMS Report Definitions

Definition

ACCOUNT ID

Customer account number. It is always a format as follows: XXXXX.

BILLY PERIOD

Period being billed, in format “YYYYMM”. For example, the March 2009 billing period is represented as 200903.

DEVICE ID

Unique identifier for Device used internally by Aeris. This ID will not appear in any AerTraffic or AerAdmin operations, nor in the AerFrame family of interfaces.

IMSI

International Mobile Subscriber Identity. Unique identification number, 15 digits in length, associated with a SIM (in GSM) or Radio (in CDMA) used by a Device.

MSISDN

Mobile Station International Subscriber Directory Number, which is the reference used for GSM. For convenience, MSISDN usage in the United States drops the international prefix (+1).

Equivalent to Mobile Directory Number (“MDN”), which is the reference for CDMA.

MESSAGE_TYPE

“MO” for Mobile-Originated SMS or “MT” for Mobile-Terminated SMS.

HOST ID

The number of the Aeris host system providing the data.

SEQUENCE ID1

In conjunction with SEQUENCE ID2, a value that uniquely identifies the message.

SEQUENCE ID2

See above.

MESSAGE_PROTOCOL_CODE

Indicates whether Device identifiers are GSM or CDMA.

APPLICATION_DATA_LENGTH

Length of SMS message.

HOST_NAME

Aeris host system.

SERVICE_NAME

Service name indicates Customer service connection.

GMT_DATE

The date and time of receipt of the message in UTC, using the format “M/D/YYYY HH:MM:SS XM” (where XM is either “AM” or “PM”). If the Month (or Day) is greater than 9, then two digits are used for that field.

BILL_STATUS

Status of Device for this record.

PRICE_PER_MSG

Price of message based on the Device Rate Plan.

INCLUDED_MSG

0 = not included, 1 = included.

MSG_CHARGE

Dollar amount charged for this message.

CDMA Packet Data Report

This report provides a detailed listing of CDMA Packet Data traffic during the billing period for each session.

Call Direction

Indicates direction of call, Incoming or Outgoing.

Calling Number

The number originating the call - the Mobile Station International Subscriber Directory Number (MSISDN).

Called_Number

The called number (the number where the call was terminated).

Call Type

A Network or Roaming Zone indicator.

Call Duration

Duration of voice session.

Call Start Time

Start time of voice session.

Call End Time

End time of voice session.

GSM Voice Report

This report provides a detailed listing of GSM Voice traffic during the billing period for each session.
